for OMA/Rem Koolhas it is a process of reducing the object to its primary elements: hub and lever. Open resembles a mechanical tool. The simplicity of its 'formal grip' enhances the quality of the metal, and simultaneously allows further variations. Punctures and subtractions to the door handle open new possibilities for everyday use. Open is available in different finishes: chrome, satined chrome, superinox satined, superanthracite satined, natural bronze, polished bronze, natural brass, and supergold brass. |

ROYAL: for Marcel Wanders it is searching for the almost artistic alliance between crystal and metal. Available in chrome, supergold and superanthracite satined finish. The crystal is also available in different styles, namely a smooth Gem cut, a Royal and classic Diamond cut. |
Building Healthy Houses

New Zealand has been called the “Land of the Unhealthy House” and it seems we’re still building them that way.
Despite tougher energy-efficiency standards introduced and greater uptake of double glazing and other technologies,
many of our new houses are still cold, damp and energy intensive.....
Our recent visit to Olivari factory and headquarter in Borgomanero, Italy was a real privilege, and a great opportunity for us and our accompanying clients to see in person the process and technologies used in the manufacture of these prestigious designer handles.
Next appointment at Salone del Mobile in Milan, where they will presente the new products, with signature models by some of the most acclaimed designers and architects.

This year the Mosbuild will take place from 31st March to 3rd April at the Moscow Expocentre. The exhibition is well-known all over the world and every year hosts thousands of visitors and manufacturers.

A significant event has marked the 2015 edition of Habitat fair in Valencia, dedicated to furnishings, among the most important in Spain.
Olivari, was not only present with its own stand, but was invited to present itself as a representative of Italian excellence with the conference "The handles in the architecture".
Antonio Olivari told about more than 100 years of history, of family business, now led by him together with his brothers. A brand synonymous of innovation, quality and reliability.
Andres Alfaro Hoffmann, an architect specialized in interior and collector of design objects, has retraced the formal evolution of the handles in Europe showing the pieces of his collection and placing them in the context of architectural evolution.
Javier Lopez, a young Spanish architect, with offices in Milan, told his experience as a designer and his relationship with Olivari in the development of the Lotus handle.
The large audience, with many questions, was able to develop interesting issues and has also got to see the prototypes, products and finishes discussed in the conference.

Bosco Verticale, Milan, by Boeri Studio has won the
2014 International Highrise Award, deeming it to be the “Most Beautiful and innovative Highrise In the world.” The biennial prize is promoted by the Frankfurt Museum of Architecture (DAM), the City of Frankfurt and DekaBank. Selected from a competitive shortlist of towers by Rem Koolhass, Steven Holl and Jean Nouvel, the forested highrise was praised by the jury for bringing 800 trees and 14 thousand plants to the Milan skyline. “The Vertical Forest is an expression of the human need for contact with nature,” stated jury president Christoph Ingenhoven. “It is a radical and daring idea for the cities of tomorrow, and without a doubt represents a model for the development of densely populated urban areas in other European countries.” Stefano Boeri responded, “The Vertical Forest represents a new approach to the highrise building, where trees and humans share their living space. It is the first example worldwide of a tower that enhances the hosting city with plant and fauna biodiversity. I am happy for both Milan and Expo, and for the Italian culture.” |

The fair will take place from 17th to 20th November in the Dubai World Trade Centre. The Big 5 is the largest construction exhibition ever held in the Middle East and AGB will introduce the Sicurezza lock, suitable for internal and external doors in wood and PVC. Opera Bit is the first lock for hotels with magnetic movement. Designed to blend with the internal door, Opera Bit design is innovative and minimal. Thanks to the possibility to choose the handle, it makes the designers creativity free.

Fensterbau 2014: success for the AGB stand
Fensterbau 2014 took place from 26th to 29th March in Nuremberg, Germany.
Thanks to the Corner Lift&Slide, Imago captured everyone at Fensterbau. The Lift&Slide blends revolutionary design with wider glazing, visible frame of less than two cm and incredible performances: positive opinions for the Poseidon lock which offers maximum anti-burglar security levels and the central point Uni-V which allows wide milling tolerances and smooth sliding even against the natural deformation of wood.
Artech Plana is the concealed hinge for Tilt&Turn which allows to obtain coplanar windows with minimum gap between sash and frame; the concealed strikers with hidden screws is not just a closing system, but also a design object; Poseidon T&T for PVC and wood, the lock with two facing hooks for excellent anti-burglar security. Thanks to its reduced dimensions, it can be used also in little spaces.
At the fair, R4 was also introduced, the hinge for entrance doors in wood with wide adjustments and capacity, easy to be installed.

The door handle Chelsea selected for the Compasso D’Oro Award
We are pleased to inform you that the handle Chelsea designed by Jean Nouvel was chosen by the Observatory ADI (Industrial Design Association) to be published in the ADI Design Index 2014 and may participate in the XXIV edition of the Award Compasso d 'Oro.
Chelsea is made of brass and porcelain.

'European flavour' for Christchurch's urban village The winning design for Christchurch's first inner city development has been revealed. Four finalists, selected from 58 entries representing 15 countries, had three months to take their initial concepts through to developed design. A seven-strong judging panel, including Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud, have selected a design by Italian architects to be built on now vacant land in Latimer Square. "The winner is an excellent demonstration of how to build medium density housing and an example to be followed elsewhere." |

The housing unit Living Box, developed by Trento University, is built with natural and recycled materials and characterized by a wide use of wood, to contain the carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere and minimize the building impact on the environment.

After the big 2012 success MADEexpo and Edilportale will present again Smart Village, the Exhibition-Convention about the
latest innovation in sustainable architecture and building efficiency.
The housing unit Living Box, developed by Trento University, is built with natural and recycled materials and characterized by a wide use of wood, to contain the carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere and minimize the building impact on the environment.

WOODEN SKYSCRAPER

Scandanavian architects C.F. Møller, in conjunction with DinellJohansson architects, have designed the world’s tallest timber skyscraper, a 34-storey residential building.
The design, which is one of three finalists for HSB Stockholm’s architectural competition 2023, will have a concrete core, but will be predominantly timber construction with the pillars and beams made of solid wood. Inside the apartments, all the walls, ceilings and window frames are made of wood and will be visible from the exterior through large glass windows. Each apartment will have a glass-covered verandah, while the building itself will be powered by solar panels on the roof. |

Moller architect Ola Jonsson said wood had great structural and technical qualities, and was the most environmentally sustainable building material to use. “The total weight of the building is radically less and limits the amount of foundation needed. The façade is a double shell structure and the wood is protected from the outdoor climate therefore it doesn’t need any treatment or paint.
“And wood is very fire resistant, even more so than concrete and steel,” he said. “We have a long history of using wood in architecture and the renewed awareness of climate change demands us to rethink the way we build and the materials we use. “I’m certain that the wood industry in our country will understand this is a great market to push.
